Step 1: Remove the screen
First turn off the iPad and use a dryer to heat the surrounding of the iPad for 2 minutes
Then insert the blade into the slit and swipe along the edge of the iPad (the slit is stuck with a plastic sheet to prevent re-adhesion). The cutting depth of the blade is about 2mm. Be careful not to use too much force to avoid cutting the cable. Next open the screen and place it at a 90°angle. Use a four-pointed screwdriver to open the screws of the screen flex cable interface, and use a spudger to disconnect the screen flex cable connector and remove the screen.
Step 2: Remove the battery
The second step is to use the screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the battery and disconnect the battery flex cable with the spudger. After these, we use the screwdriver to open the screws on the motherboard and remove the motherboard protector along the edges with the spudger. Next use the screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the battery. Heat the back cover for about 2 minutes (to soften the battery fixing glue and facilitate removal). Now we can remove the battery with the yellow battery shovel. Be careful not to shovel the battery flex cable outlet to prevent breakage. It is difficult to disassemble the motherboard and install it. Just tilt the battery flex cable slightly and take out the battery. We need to use a spudger to slightly tilt the motherboard, and then pull out the battery. This step is difficult to operate. Be careful that the battery flex cable is broken.
Step 3: Install the new battery
The last step is replace the iPad with a new battery. We can follow the same steps as removing the battery. It is important to notice that the battery flex cable must be fastened, otherwise it will be unable to be used after startup. Fasten the battery flex cable and fasten the screws to fix the battery. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws on the motherboard. Clean up the residual screen glue on the screen and around the iPad. Then apply new screen glue. Fasten the flex cables in turn, and tighten the screws (the flex cables need to be aligned and fastened gently). Last install the screen and check whether it fits around. Thus battery replacement for iPad Pro 9.7”is completed.
Although the steps of replacing the iPad battery seem relatively simple, many details need to be paid great attention to. For example, it is easy to scratch the flex cable when disassembling the screen. The process of disassembling the battery also needs to be careful. It is necessary to heat and soften the battery glue before disassembling the battery, and pay attention not to break the battery flex cable. Therefore, if there is no certain maintenance capacity, it is recommended to go to the repair shop to find a professional to replace the battery.
